It's been six months since I posted an item in this series, but I've finally come up with someone worthy of inclusion--Bill Cable (1946 - 1998). Although known to most of us for his work for Colt in the early 70s (under the name 'Stoner'), the Gary, Indiana native had posed for AMG's Bob Mizer before that, appearing in this seldom-seen late 60s color movie. His striking beauty (which caused someone to dub him 'beefcake's answer to Elizabeth Taylor") is evident throughout, and he is seen riding his bike--prophetically, as it happens, since he was to die in a motorcycle accident some 30 years later. Following the Colt work, he renewed his str8 creds with a center-fold/cover appearance in the November 1974 issue of Playgirl, but seems to have done little or no posing after that. A gun-enthusiast and all-round wild man, he hung around with such other doom-ridden guys as Marlon Brando's son, Christian, spending the rest of his life largely out of public view. While 'Stoner' admirers have put together and posted many video tributes to his memory, this footage (the earliest there is, apparently) has rarely been seen on the Internet.
