Growing up in the 70s, I actively sought out whatever muscle I could enjoy on TV. For whatever reason, the sword-and-sandal ‘peplum’ flicks of the 60s featuring musclemen like Steve Reeves, et al, were rarely shown in our area, so I only caught some lesser entries in the genre.
Though I had discovered the appeal of muscle mags as a young adolescent, I didn’t seriously immerse myself in their pleasures until late in high school, as I then had a bit more spending money and was also able to drive myself to a shop where I wasn’t known and didn’t fear exposure. The mags back then regularly ran historical pics that opened my horny eyes to muscle icons of the past. I vividly recall an issue of ‘Muscular Development’ that featured a full-page, sepia-toned version of the pic that prefaces this video, showing Reg Park in his dreamy ‘Hercules’ form, relaxed while embracing his onscreen wife, his thick upper body bulging deliciously.
I would be years before I finally was able to see Park in the role, but, to my eyes, he eclipsed Reeves, with superior size and an aura of legit strength. My first view, via ‘MST3000’, came in the company of a flatmate, so I couldn’t ‘rise to the occasion’ as I desired to do, but Park didn’t let me down, and I took the images of him I seared into my mind to bed with me. To this day, I believe he remains the thickest, sexiest ‘Hercules’ ever.
