Showing up on Muscle Beach in l952, 19-year-old Louis Degni--your typical Brooklyn-born Italian-American bodybuilder of the 50s (i.e. gorgeous)--wowed the crowd with his good looks and prize physique. And although he would surely have risen to the top as a competitive bb, he won fame and fortune via another route--as the best of Steve Reeves' successors in the sword & sandals movies Cinecitta was turning out in ever more lavish profusion. Renamed 'Mark Forest,' Lou showed much skin and a surprising amount of acting skill in such epics as "Goliath and the Dragon" (1960)--sampled here dubbed into Spanish.

13 years agoThe backstories on many famous BBs are truly fascinating. BTW, when I called Degni 'gorgeous' I didn't use the word casually. Check out the b&w photo of him I posted yesterday as 'Muscleman & moviestar.'

13 years agoThankyou for the history lesson xychromo. Being an oldie I remember all the films that were made at Cinecitta in the 50's and afterwards. At the end of the film went to the toilet and had a good WANK!
