Although this bit of silent footage is almost unwatchably fuzzy, those with fond memories of ART BYMAN may well enjoy it. One of AMG's best-looking but most enigmatic models, Art found his way from Connecticut to Hollywood in the early 60s , working mostly as a fork lift operator, but by the time he did this clip for Bob Mizer, he had become a busboy in the 20th Century Fox commissary. Despite the attention he attracted there, he had neither movie-star aspirations nor any wish to develop his 5' l0"/160# physique beyond the lithely muscled form shown here. "Art is a moody, almost sullen boy," Mizer wrote of him. "He doesn't smile often, and when he does it is with restraint." Although Byman did relatively little work for Bob or any other of the LA photographers, his photos appeared widely in the skin mags of the period and turned him into something of a cult figure, a status he retains (however modestly) to this day. [I'm going to post a still photo to help explain his enduring appeal.]
